Fireplace
The opening to this fireplace was felt to be too narrow in proportion to the surround.
We lifted the lintel out before adding a new fire-back and stonework at the front.

To finish it we broke out the old and broken slate and replaced it with stone that we
cut a groove into to allow a free- standing fire guard more stability.

A decorative tiled outer edge to the groove would complete the picture once we
had sought out and fitted a suitable ' hood ' for the fireplace...
